Mary-Anne Walker | UK

My most recent work explores the social enterprise sector, channelling the importance of the individual voice. The work allows individuals as well as groups of people the opportunity to represent themselves and tell their unique story.

My aim is to build skills within disadvantaged and marginalised communities, utilising innovative participatory photography and storytelling methods. These skills enable individuals to represent themselves and create tools for advocacy and communication. Through this, and through developing partnerships and collaboration, enabling to deliver positive social change.

I believe in the power of participatory photography to enable people’svoices to be heard. I am passionate about nurturing ideas, growing confidenceand empowering both individuals and communities through photography andculture.

Engagement and collaboration in participatory photography and creative arts can impact positively which imposes social change. Therefore the idea being that awareness is created and a support network begins to emerge. The overall aim is to create positive social change for individuals and substantial outcomes for the communities that I work with.
